Established in 1996 in collaboration with the University of Turin, the University of Lyon, the University of Eastern Piedmont and the Piedmont Region, ISAIDAT, Subalpine Institute for the Analysis and Teaching of the Law of Transnational Activities, was the first Italian centre for post-graduate training and advanced studies in legal knowledge.
ISAIDAT guides and promotes research programs in legal and social sciences, with particular attention to the transnational dynamics of the legal-economic phenomenon and to the use of comparative methodology.
It encourages and supports the young researchers’ participation in the Italian scientific life through projects and scholarships expressly dedicated to them, thus representing a recognized reference point in Italy.
It boasts a rich experience of national and international research programs that have been recognized and praised by the scientific community for the quality of their results and for the highly innovative character of the subjects.
In appreciation of the high scientific value of its activity, ISAIDAT has received the patronage of the Accademia Nazionale dei Lincei.
Founder
Prof. Rodolfo Sacco
Rodolfo Sacco was a forerunner of comparative law studies in which he developed the doctrine of legal formants and their dissociations.
He had a prestigious national and international teaching career which saw him professor at the Universities of Turin, Trieste, Pavia, Geneva, Paris, Toulon and President of the Italo-Somala University of Mogadishu.
Former President of IALS, International Association for Legal Sciences, Prof Sacco was National Member of the Accademia Nazionale dei Lincei (Roma) as well as of many other prestigious Academies and scientific associations such as the Institut de France (Académie de sciences morales), the European Academy, the Academy of Sciences of Turin, the Istituto Lombardo (Academy of Sciences and Letters), the International Academy of Comparative Law, and the Société de Législation comparée. He also served as President of IALS, International Association of Legal Sciences.
Rodolfo Sacco was Doctor Honoris Causa in the University of Paris II, University of Toulon, University of Geneva and Mc Gill University.
He established ISAIDAT in 1996. Rodolfo Sacco passed away on the 21 March 2022.

Prof. Piercarlo Rossi
Piercarlo Rossi is full professor of comparative private law in the department of economic-social sciences and mathematical-statistics at the University of Turin. His research interests range from comparisons in legal reforms between Europe and Asia to the relationship between law and economics, from comparative methodology to applied linguistics and legal informatics.
Prof Rossi has held and continues to hold the role of scientific director and coordinator of numerous national and international projects. PhD Domenico di Micco
Former researcher and then economic manager of CDCT (Centre for Comparative and Transnational Law), Domenico di Micco is post-doc research fellow at the University of Trent and at the University of Turin. His research activity ranges from private law, general theory of law, legal-economic dynamics of globalization, methodology and legal anthropology.
Visiting Scholar at the University of Cambridge (2019), Dr. Di Micco is Adjunct Professor of Introduction to the Legal System at Bocconi University in Milan.
Domenico di Micco is fellow of the Italian group of the Association Henri Capitant des amis de la culture juridique française, member of the editorial board of the Annuario di diritto comparato e di studi legislative, member of the editorial board of Giurisprudenza italiana (commercial law); member of the management committee of Isaidat Law Review.

Full Professor of Comparative Private Law at the University of Turin, Michele Graziadei is also Vice President of “Ferdinando Rossi” School of Advanced Studies of the same University.
Former Director of the Department of Legal Sciences at the University of Eastern Piedmont “Amedeo Avogadro” and preaviously research fellow at the University of Trent, Prof Graziadei has been visiting professor in several foreign universities including Panthéon-Assas (Paris), Cornell, Université de Luxembourg, Université Lyon III, Louisiana State University.
Michele Graziadei is President of the Italian Society for Research in Comparative Law (SIRD) and President of the Italian Group of the Association Henri Capitant. He is also member of the Scientific Council of the Max-Planck in Halle for Social Anthropology.
Michele Graziadei is Titular Member of the International Academy of Comparative Law, and fellow of the Accademia delle Scienze di Torino.
Prof. Raffaele Caterina
Full Professor of Private Law at the University of Turin. Former Head of Legal Sciences Department from 2007 to 2012, in 2018 he was elected Head of Law Department for the three-year period 2018-2021.
His main research interests concern the contribution of cognitive sciences to legal studies, with particular regard to tacit knowledge in the law field.
He also focused his interests on property law, possession and consumer law.
He serves as a board member of the Executive Committee of Giurisprudenza italiana.
Raffaele Caterina is Fellow of the Accademia delle scienze di Torino.
Prof. Bianca Gardella Tedeschi
Associate Professor of Comparative Private Law at the University of Eastern Piedmont, Bianca Gardella Tedeschi obtained the Master of Laws (LL.M.) at the Harvard Law School (1998) as well as the Diplôme de la Faculté Internationale de Droit Comparé (1990).
She is member of the Scientific Committee of CDCT (Centre of Comparative and Transnational Law); member of the Scientific Committee of LDF (Laboratory of Fundamental Rights); Member of ELI – European Law Institute 2011; Member of SIRD – Italian Society for Research in Comparative Law; Member of the Association Henri Capitant des Amis de la Culture Juridique Française.
Her main fields of research include contract, civil liability, comparison, European law and legal feminism.
